During the May Day holiday, 40 tourist areas monitored in Xiangxi Prefecture received a total of 1.279 million tourists.
During the May Day holiday, the 37 monitored accommodation units achieved an average room occupancy rate of 82.84%. Among them, the Fenghuangcheng Old Courtyard Inn in Fenghuang County, the 202 Homestay Inn in Baojing County, and the Yujian Meisu in Luxi County were all fully booked.
Boutique tourist areas gained high popularity. According to the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, during the May Day holiday, the Fenghuang Ancient Town Tourist Area, Furong Town Scenic Area, and Aizhai-Shibadong-Dehang Grand Canyon Scenic Area in Xiangxi Prefecture ranked second, sixth, and ninth respectively among A-level scenic areas in Hunan in terms of cumulative tourist flow.
There were various cultural and tourism activities across Xiangxi Prefecture. Jishou City launched a series of activities, including the “Xiangxi Qiancheng Intangible Cultural Heritage Show” and “Xiangxi Miao Folk Song Exchange Performance”. Folk cultural performances were held in the Nanhua Mountain Sacred Phoenix Culture Scenic Area and Zhushan Scenic Area every night. Such activities as Cuicui’s Boat Tour and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition kicked off in Huayuan Biancheng Chadong Scenic Area. In addition, Miao cultural programs such as Miao drum performances, bamboo pole dances, and Miao song duets were presented in the Shibadong Scenic Area.
